It came down last week that CBS canceled its Friday night supernatural drama “Ghost Whisperer,” which was a bit surprising considering the network kept its Friday night spooky partner “Medium” and that “Whisperer” consistently won its time slot.

There were talks that the Jennifer Love Hewitt vehicle would move to ABC but those rumors have been nixed by Executive Producers Kim Moses and Ian Sander. “After five wonderful seasons and over 100 episodes, we are disappointed to announce ‘Ghost Whisperer’ will not be returning for a sixth season,” the EPs said in a statement.

Never fear, JLW fans! She will be hitting the screen in Marc Erlbaum’s drama “Cafe” later this year, which tells the story of tragedy striking a small community and the realization of how the lives of regular cafe customers are entwined.

* All signs point to ABC rescuing Ghost Whisperer from CBS’ trash heap. An Alphabet reprieve for Old Christine, however, appears unlikely. And I think we can all agree that that sucks something major.
